USyd student Jesper Duffy has avoided a conviction and a fine after pleading guilty. Monday morning, Duffy was accompanied by approximately 10 supporters as he appeared at Downing Centre Local Court. Last Friday, police arrested Duffy and alleged he was on lands owned by Homes NSW without lawful excuse. Protestors had been occupying parts of a Waterloo public housing block continuously for 25 days when police expelled them last Friday.

On the 14th of December, two shooters, one of which was known to ASIO in 2019 in relation to an investigation into an Islamic State cell, killed 15 people at Bondi Beach.
